I can’t wait to share my amazing experience at Hotel San Cristóbal with you! I first discovered this boutique hotel on social media and was instantly attracted to its boho-chic vibes and charm. One of my favorite influencers shared photos from her stay at the hotel, which influenced me to put this hotel and area on my bucket list. This is how I usually discover most of the hotels I stay at and plan my travels. I’m sure you follow many influencers and are influenced by them often in this day and age.
Todos Santos (It translates to ‘All Saints’ in English, which I love) is a charming small town on the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. It’s a haven for surfers, dreamers, artists, and creatives across generations. The area was a small fishing village back in the day and later caught the attention of surfers and boho spiritualists. Nowadays, it’s said to be a magnet for all of the above.
Let’s talk about THE HOTEL:
If you appreciate a slower, relaxed pace of living and enjoy unwinding and connecting with nature (like me), I highly recommend visiting this beautiful boutique hotel.
As a lover of boho-chic aesthetics, I was captivated by the hotel’s unique character. The seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces, along with the beautiful locally crafted furnishings, vibrant Mexican and Guatemalan fabrics, and an abundance of Terra-cotta-potted cacti, truly make this place special.
The hotel’s peaceful atmosphere makes it ideal for romantic getaways, honeymoons, anniversaries, and intimate weddings. It even has a charming chapel on the property, adding to its romantic allure.
The hotel has 32 rooms. We stayed in one of their two Sea Queen rooms – with two queen beds and a dreamy balcony with an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. One of the things I loved about this room was how spacious it was, it’s 500 square feet, including the private outdoor lounge space (balcony). These rooms have two handmade, natural fiber queen beds, bright woven blankets, a writing desk, and a private shaded patio that opens to the beach. According to the hotel’s website, The Sea Queen rooms can accommodate up to 4 guests, and some can be adjoined to Ocean King rooms when traveling in a group.
Hotel San Cristobal is not a budget hotel; it is a boutique hotel. Even if you don’t spend a night (or more) here, please take my word and stop by for a meal or drinks. Their restaurant, Benno, offers a Baja-Mediterranean menu with fresh catch from the fishermen who share the beach with the hotel. I took advantage of a ‘stay for three or more nights and get a free night on us’ promotion; we stayed for three nights total and paid for two nights + all the food we ate at the hotel. If you think their rates are too high, I recommend signing up for their newsletters and keeping an eye out for a similar promotion.
Memories that stand out from my stay at Hotel San Cristobal include:
- Marveling at the ocean and the golden sand beach right from my bed. What an amazing view to wake up to!
- Witnessing spectacular sunsets from anywhere on the property.
- Lounging by the turquoise-tiled infinity pool while sipping a Piña Colada and admiring the ocean’s glittering beauty. The pool offers an unobstructed view of Playa Punta Lobos, providing a stunning backdrop.
- Meditating on the room’s balcony, gazing at the ocean and waves, basking in the scene’s tranquility. The hammock on the balcony evoked memories of my family’s old summer house in Tekirdag, Turkey, where we also had a hammock on the rooftop attic. It was an open, airy room where I could see the ocean blending into the sky. It was the epitome of relaxation for me. I remember spending hours here, reading a book, listening to music (mostly The Cranberries) or simply enjoying the view, feeling at peace.
- The rainbow-striped robes in our room, along with various vibrant textiles. I wanted to take the robe with me so badly. I should have asked if they were available for purchase. Next time!
- Browsing the old books and vinyl in the hotel’s cozy, boho-chic library and doing a photo shoot in that setting.
THE LOCATION:
The hotel’s location is unbeatable. Nestled in a tranquil corner of Todos Santos, it’s directly on Punta Lobos beach (Playa Punta Lobos). Further south, you can find famous surf spots like San Pedrito and Los Cerritos. This stretch of the Pacific Ocean is renowned for its rough waters, making it a paradise for surfers and showcasing the country’s top surfing locations. I didn’t swim in the ocean much this time – I rather enjoyed its beauty from afar.
Despite being just 1.5 hours away from bustling Los Cabos, Todos Santos feels like a remote, offbeat world with a laid-back vibe. In 2006, the Mexican government designated Todos Santos a Pueblo Mágico—one of just 100 small towns recognized for their natural beauty, cultural richness, and historical relevance.
Hotel San Cristobal is a four-mile drive from the small town of Todos Santos.
HOW TO GET THERE: Fly to Los Cabos airport and rent a car (much cheaper than a shuttle). Depending on traffic and daylight, it takes 1-2 hours to drive from the airport to the hotel. Driving after dark is more challenging, so I don’t recommend that.
Did I influence you to stay at Hotel San Cristobal? I hope so.
I recommend booking Hotel San Cristobal at Hotel Tonight (Use my code NGRKEM to get $50 off your booking) or via their website.
