Even though it doesn’t feel like full-on summer in San Diego yet – it’s been chillier than normal for this time of the year – I’ve been trying to style and shoot summer looks for you guys since we all can’t wait for summer.
This season, two-piece sets are everywhere. Especially the bright and fun ones!
This bright shade of blue is one of my fav colors for the summer and I love the energy it gives me. Color blue stands for confidence, calmness, peace, and serenity – so wear bright blues when you need that extra confidence boost! Blue is also recommended for dealing with stress, which makes two fabulous reasons for you to wear more shades of blue in your everyday life 🙂
One of the good things about having a two-piece set is that you can wear the pieces individually too. So you can technically create 3 different looks with a two-piece set 🙂 I love pairing this top with basic jeans and a biker jacket.

While the colorful and crazy print two pieces might look like they’re hard to style, they’re not. You just have to follow a couple of small tips for your accessories.
1) Keep it easy on the shoes: Go for nude and a minimal shoe style – whether you’re wearing flats, sneakers, or heeled sandals like the ones I’m wearing. Since the print is already too bright and center of the look, you don’t need any more distractions.
2) Neutral straw bag: Since my bag choice this summer is nothing but straw bags, I find a way to make them work with any of my looks. Since this one is functional and neutral, I think it goes pretty great with this set. Any straw bag would look great with this look in my opinion though.
3) Accessorize with simple jewelry: While this is not a must, you can definitely add some trendy pieces to any of your summer looks as long as they don’t steal the show.
4) Layer with denim jacket or cardigan: If you prefer to have a jacket with you (I always do since it can get pretty cold in SoCal), go for an edgy oversized denim jacket or a plain cardigan. The cool, edgy and effortless chic effect of denim jackets balances out the feminine vibes of this look. They work as a belly cover-up after that Sunday brunch too. I can also see myself layering a gray or taupe oversized cardigan with this look and I will probably try that next time.
The prints add dimension to any outfit, but especially when both of your top and bottoms have the same print. When styled correctly, printed two-piece sets can definitely be your new statement look for this summer!
If you’re still not into the print two-piece trend, take baby steps and start with a neutral and plain set that is easier to wear.
