Second stop of our mini road trip was Hearst Castle. According to my research, the story of this castle began in 1865, when George Hearst purchased 40,000 acres of ranch land in San Simeon. His son inherited what had grown to more than 250,000 acres, and wanted to transform it into a retreat he called La Cuesta Encantada—Spanish for “Enchanted Hill.” By 1947, William Hearst and architect Julia Morgan, (the first woman licensed architect in California) had created Hearst Castle: 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways, and a legendary art collection that belongs to the family.
Art, history, architecture and design inspire me. This is where the inspiration for my Hearst Castle outfit comes from ๐
