How to style the duster coat/kimono trend if you’re petite with RIVER ISLAND

How to style the duster coat/kimono trend if you're petiteHow to style the duster coat/kimono trend if you're petiteAs a big kimono fan, I was so excited to find this floral duster kimono at River Island‘s website recently. I have a lot of floral kimonos, but most of them are short or too sheer, so after receiving this one in the mail, I realized I didn’t have anything like it in my wardrobe. It was the print and side slits that attracted me to this kimono, and I fell in love with it after receiving it because it’s technically a jacket and can be worn different ways. Now, I know this style is called a duster coat. And yes I googled the difference between a kimono and a duster coat because I wasn’t exactly sure ๐Ÿ™‚

Since I’m petite, I avoid wearing a long coat/kimono like this one with flats. I think the high-heels definitely help balance the length of this kimono.

You can wear a skirt with a coat like this one, but I think petite girls should stick to mini skirts. Jeans are definitely an easier choice though. With a crop top like this one and any style of jeans you prefer, you’re good to go!

I’m pretty sure I’ll wear this duster coat with a strappy cami, strapless top, denim skirt and mules/espadrilles/cute sandals to music festivals this summer and even with a plain bathing suit or bikini as long as the colors match. Already looking forward to summer and styling this number for different occasions.

And for those of you wondering how tall I am, I’m 5’5″ ๐Ÿ™‚

xoxo
