Pablo Escobar’s Mansion in Tulum (Casa Malca)

If you haven’t seen photos of this place on my Instagram, you’re missing out! Lucky for you, you can see them below ๐Ÿ™‚ Formerly Pablo Escobar’s villa and now a hotel, Casa Malca is one of the most Instagrammable spots I’ve ever been to. It was built by the infamous Colombian drug lord in the 1980’s and it’s complete with a hidden underground pool located beneath the main pool! It’s very private, and I’ve heard it’s an exclusive homage to the mysterious and elaborate past of previous tenants. Another noteworthy thing about this hotel is that it is essentially an art gallery. You can see an amazing collection of contemporary art pieces from the owner, Lio Malca, an art specialist from New York who has curated shows for Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. The pieces by Kaws, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, and Rafael Gomez are my personal favorites. The carpets, curtains and uber cool swing chairs at the entrance of the hotel are breathtaking – and definitely makes me wish this was my house! Don’t forget to take pictures of the swing chairs and climb up the round stairs for an amazing view of the jungle on one side and beach on the other. Who’s putting this location on their bucket list? ๐Ÿ™‚
